REVIEW Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color in 39 Just Dancin With SWATCHES

Hello dancing queens,

Today I have yet another Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color review for you. Confetti is by far my favorite cheap drugstore polish brand. It's almost on par with the mid-range brands like OPI, Essie, and Zoya at a fraction of the cost. And because it's so cheap at $2 a bottle at CVS (at least here in NYC), it's a great way to try out colors that you might not instinctively gravitate towards. For me, Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color in 39 Just Dancin is one of those colors.

Color: Confetti Just Dancin is a dark red shimmer polish. I'm having trouble describing it because it has so much of a brown tone. It's darker than a brick red and not quite a wine red or a ruby red. I suppose maybe it's more of a rusty red or a garnet red. Yes, that sounds about right. A deep garnet red with a touch of brown. I feel like I've seen swatches of this kind of color a lot in previous OPI collections so it's very possibly a dupe for an OPI polish. While it hasn't made me a convert to deep brownish red shimmer polishes, I do like the way it looks on my shorter nails and it does have a good amount of depth. It can appear to have a little purple in it under certain lighting conditions which you can see the most in the first bottle pic in this post.
Formula: The formula was maybe on the thicker side but not notably so.
Application: The first coat applied smoothly but no dragging but it was a little streaky and I did have to even out the polish a bit with the brush. The second coat was more of the same. Although the polish appeared fairly opaque at two coats, it failed a light test because of bald patches so I added a third coat. During the application of the third coat I noticed that the brush was dragging a little and though I could even out the polish, it did not even out perfectly. The polish was already very shiny without a layer of top coat but I added a layer of Seche Vite as I always do and noticed that it further smoothed out the polish. I should also mention that if you examine your nails closely, you will be able to see brushstrokes because of the shimmer formula but it is not terribly noticeable.
Wear: I started to get tip wear very quickly (1-2 days) on my dominant hand but it's not as bad on the other hand. I'm not sure if this is because I use my dominant hand for more projects that might have worn the polish away or because I did a better job of wrapping the tips of my nails when painting with my dominant hand. Either way, it's something to be aware of as a good polish should not show so much tip wear this early.

CONCLUSION: If you like the swatches I would recommend this polish. It doesn't have a perfect formula but it's relatively easy to work with and it's a fraction of the post of similar polishes. However, I will freely admit that I might not be recommending this polish if it wasn't only $2 at the drugstore. I'm happy to have it in my collection for variety but it's not my favorite Confetti polish.

REVIEW of Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color in 95 Black Tie

Today's review is going to be very quick. I picked up a bottle of Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color in 95 Black Tie at CVS a while ago just because I needed a bottle of black polish. I am really impressed with how it performed, especially for the price. If it's part of the permanent collection, I'll probably pick up another bottle for nail art. I won't bore you with yet another discussion of my black polish wearing goth/non-goth high school phase.

Color: Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color in 95 Black Tie is a black creme polish. It is very dark and has a lot of natural shine even without top coat.
Formula: It has a very thin but opaque formula. It's almost like ink, but not that thin and watery.
Application: Application was incredibly smooth because of the consistency of the polish. I only needed two medium thick coats to get the polish to full opacity.

Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color in 06 I 3 U

Hello my little ladybugs,

Before we begin, I need to clarify that the name of this Confetti polish is I <3 U. But for some reason I can't use "<" in the heading of this post without the title disappearing. Or in my labels. It actually might be a miracle if anyone who doesn't already follow this blog finds this review. So, now that we've gotten that out of the way, I'm sure you're wondering, did I <3 this polish? Well... Yes and no. You know I'm always a little more forgiving of Confetti polishes.

Color: Confetti I <3 U is a cream-colored frost polish. I call it cream because even though I am not familiar with all the Home Depot paint chip varieties, I know enough to know this shouldn't be called a white frost polish. The frost isn't harsh or glittery to me. Instead, it gives the polish a shimmery, almost buttery quality, especially when the lighting is a bit yellow and the polish actually looks like a very pale luminescent butter. At other times, usually in direct sunlight, the polish appears like a cream satin, as though I've somehow managed to cover my nails in fabric. Up close, the polish looks a bit grittier and you can see the microglitter/shimmer but for the most part, it just looks like a solid color.
Formula: The formula is nice, not really too thick or too thin.
Application: Because this polish has a frost finish, it's not going to be very forgiving. I can definitely see the overlapping brushstrokes. That said, because this isn't a thick formula, you don't get that unfortunate gloopy effect and under most lighting conditions, the polish reflects the light in such a way that you don't notice the brushstrokes. I thought 2 coats could be sufficient for most people but I used 3 for these swatches as it looked better. I just prefer higher coverage (and sometimes I need it if I've been doing a lot of swatching).

CONCLUSION: I would definitely recommend this polish, especially if you're looking for a cheaper dupe of a cream frost polish. I've noticed higher end brands putting out similar colors. I won't say the formula is perfect but it's pretty easy to work with and I really like the effect.

REVIEW of Confetti Longwearing Nail Color in 93 Debutante

Happy Thanksgiving chickadees!

I have a headache. And a ton of work I need to catch up on. But I wanted to share my latest experience with Confetti nail polish with you. This time it's 093 Debutante. Now, if you've read my review of Confetti polish in Rhapsody in Blue, you'll know that I was very impressed with Confetti polish... so much so that I haven't painted my nails with that polish again because I can't find another bottle in stores. But I don't have that same problem with Debutante. I usually see at least a few bottles at CVS. Enough chatter. Let's get into the review, shall we?

Color: Debutante is a light gold nail polish. I'd say it's somewhere between a shimmer and a frost. It can go from a lighter yellow gold to a darker more true gold in dimmer lighting. When I think of debutantes, I think of that fateful episode of Gossip Girl. I'm not quite sure Debutante is as posh as all that but it's a nice gold polish. I think it would look gorgeous on medium and dark skintones. Lighter skintones, especially ones with yellow undertones like me, may run into some problems.
Formula: I think the formula was a bit on the thin side. It looked opaque in 3 coats but it didn't hold up to the light test where you hold you nails up to the light and see if light passes through. However, I personally didn't feel like adding layers of polish to see how many I would need to get it truly opaque. After wearing it for a few days, the opacity or lack thereof didn't bother me.
Application: Appliation was very smooth. I thought the polish was very easy to work with though once it has tried, you can see some overlapping brushstrokes if you look at it closely.

CONCLUSION: I don't think this polish would meet the exacting standards of Blair Waldorf, but I thought it was a perfectly fine gold polish from the drugstore. If the color is right for your skintone, I would recommend checking it out.

REVIEW of Confetti Lonesome Dove with SWATCHES (Plus COMPARISON to Zoya Dove)

I feel like this post needs a little bit of explanation. I don't know whether you've seen my "Shades of Gray Nail Polish Comparison" post but basically, I have quite a few gray polishes now and I wasn't sure which one I wanted to try next. So I started to paint Confetti's Lonesome Dove on the nails on my left hand. It went alright (more on that later). Then I went to paint Lonesome Dove on the nails of my right hand. It went horribly. So horribly I didn't bother to preserve it with top coat to take swatches the next day, I just wiped my nails clean and repainted my nails with Zoya's Dove polish. It went much better. But then when I sat down to write this post, I had an issue. Could I really do a fair comparison of Confetti Lonesome Dove and Zoya Dove when I had only painted Dove on my right hand? And I didn't really want to write two reviews and a comparison post. So, I finally decided to write a review of Confetti's Lonesome Dove with a small comparison of Zoya Dove and Confetti Lonesome Dove at the very end. With lots of swatches. You have been warned.

Color: Confetti's Lonesome Dove is a nice light gray color. It's a muted gray that reminds me of pigeons more than the lighter gray color I think of when I think of dove gray. Compared to Zoya Dove, I saw maybe more of a slight blue tone to it. For me, I think this color is alright but it kind of brought out some of the redness in my hands and compared to Zoya Dove, I have to say I like Zoya Dove better.
Formula: The polish wasn't too thin or too thick. It's your standard creme polish. I used 3 coats to get it opaque. Though, I should note that because the polish didn't go on evenly, when I held my hand up to the light, I could see it wasn't fully opaque over the whole nail.
Application: This is one of those left hand/right hand issues. First of all, it was not a perfect application on the nails of either hand. But painting with my left hand (my nondominant hand) was so atrocious I didn't bother taking pictures. Painting with my right hand, I thought application was relatively smooth but I did have some trouble getting even coats and I really didn't like the brush. It was one of those brushes that creates streaks. I do not know when nail polish companies are going to realize that a bad brush can ruin a good polish. Most of the uneveness smoothed out after I used Seche Vite but you could definitely still see the small ridges.

CONCLUSION: If you want a cheap, gray polish you could do worse than Confetti's Lonesome Dove. It is not a dupe for Zoya Dove and I can't recommend it based on the formula or application. But it's... servicable. I wore it on my nails for a week and the imperfections weren't enough to really irritate me (and I'm easily irritated by sloppy-looking nails).

Note: I am wearing Zoya Dove on the leftmost nail. You can see it is slightly lighter but pretty similar depending on the lighting...more on that later.

Now to the comparison...
Using Zoya Dove on my right hand, I also didn't get a perfectly smooth paint job. The brush seemed a little short and wasn't great to work with. In the end, there was uneveness at the base of the nail. There is a difference between the two colors. Zoya Dove is the lighter of the two and seems like a purer gray, just a mix of black and white, while Lonesome Dove is a slightly darker gray with a slight blue tone or some kind of undertone like a slate gray. If I had to say which one is more of a dove gray (given the names), I would say Zoya Dove. It's a more refined, lighter gray. I do want to test out Zoya Dove on my left hand before reviewing it, to give it a fair shot.

REVIEW of Confetti Nail Polish in 104 Rhapsody in Blue

Love the song. Love the name. I am a bit of a music nerd and though I thrive off of powerful and/or emotional female vocals, I have a soft spot for some instrumentals. Rhapsody in Blue is one of them. And luckily, I happen to love this Confetti nail polish almost as much.

This is my first time trying a Confetti nail polish and I have to say I'm impressed. The polish applied smoothly though the formula might seem a tad watery/runny to O.P.I. and Essie devotees and the perfectionist in me must admit that the polish doesn't apply perfectly evenly. I can only tell with my nails about 5 inches or closer to my eyes but you can see the seams/edges where one brushstroke overlaps the other. This is probably due to the polish and not a flaw of the formula as the color falls somewhere between a shimmer and a frost which I find more difficult that creamy formulas.

The color is a nice cool-toned metallic blue shimmer. It's a bit greyed out which makes it look a bit like platinum but it is clearly a blue. The pictures are fairly accurate so I'm going to stop trying to describe it. I'll just say that I love the color though under yellow lighting, it can bring out the red in my hands. This does not happen at any other time.

CONCLUSION: At such a great price and with only minimal formula issues, I would recommend this polish and will probably repurchase it.
