Fashion's Night Out 2012: Tiffany & Co. Soho

My other stop during Fashion's Night Out was Tiffany's. I don't have a lot to say. The store is beautifully laid out and decorated. All of the staff they hired for the night were very friendly and accomodating. Sadly by the time I got there (around 8) there wasn't much left in the way of "experience." So I will now just leave you with a bunch of pictures of the new store.

There were a large group of people in this area. Not around Tiffany's specifically but around this area of shops. Still, it wasn't as bad as say, on Broadway.

I thought the store was very thoughtfully decorated and keeping with the Tiffany's aesthetic. I'm not sure if the pictures convey this, but the store is huge, basically spanning a block.

Perhaps I'm the only person who didn't know this, but I didn't know they were going to be selling handbags.

This is the piece I left coveting. For $300 it's a very expensive key. I'm not ruling out buying a Tiffany key in the future, but for now I'm happy with the key necklace I just purchased at the Union Square Forever21. There are tons more if you're interested and you can also get them online.

Fashion's Night Out 2012: Alexis Bittar

Hi chickadees!

I thought you might like to hear about how I spent my Fashion's Night Out this year. This was personally my first year actually roaming about though FNO has been going on for a few years now. I had planned to go last year circumstances being what they were, I did not. Anyway, I wasn't really excited by many of the offerings this year except for one...karaoke at Alexis Bittar.

I haven't talked about Alexis Bittar on this blog very much but I haunt the website quite a lot. His designs give me tons of ideas for DIY projects I'm probably never going to get around to and I love his aesthetic. Fluid, organic shapes, a mix of semi-precious gems and jewelry minerals, and inspiration from nature. It is so my style. I just kind of wish the prices were a little lower and the pieces weren't so big. I have nothing against big jewelry, but I can't wear it. Especially heavy earrings.

I set out for the night around 7pm. I brought an umbrella, convinced it was going to rain, but I really should have brought a bottle of water instead what with the heat. Long story short, I was in line for quite a while, occasionally snapping my sneak-attack pictures of partygoers until I chatted with Bridget Everett who was running the event and moved to the head of the line. I did a vaguely squeaky, dehydrated and belty rendition of "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" by the incomparable Dusty Springfield. Not to sound like an American Idol contestant, but I was having an off day. I really should have brought that bottle of water to save people the anguish. But regardless, as promised, at the end I got a $50 giftcard which I am going to put towards getting a pair of earrings very soon. I'll show you them in a later post if you're interested.

If you didn't want to brave the crush of people inside, you could watch the karaoke performances through the window.

I definitely recommend stopping by the store. I've been in a few times before. They have beautiful displays.

A lovely girl I met at the event who did a killer rendition of Empire State of Mind. I was amazed at how good almost all of the performers were. Lyndsay designs her own jewlery, including that striking necklace. You can find her work at her etsy shop.
