Target Beauty Bag Product Review PART TWO

Pantene Flat to Volume Conditioner for Fine Hair

This product sounded perfect for me, but it is so difficult to tear me away from my regular Garnier shampoo. After Garnier everything feels kind of thick and leaves my hair with a slightly stick residue. But I decided to give this a shot. My hair routine is absolutely terrible. I use too much product, I know. I start off with Head and Shoulders shampoo, then follow with the Ultimate Shine Shampoo Bar from Lush, wash that out with my beloved Garnier shampoo and then finish with my Garnier conditioner.
Full disclosure, the first time I tried to use this product I was extremely sleep deprived so I ended up using 3x as much product as I would have normally because I was convinced it was a shampoo and thus confused as to why it wouldn't lather up. So there goes 3 testing days. I used 2x my normal portion, realized my mistake, washed it out with shampoo and then finished with the conditioner again. But I count that as an invalid test.

The second time I tried to use this product, I didn't wash my hair for a few days, letting it get very tangly. A little too tangled. The conditioner did a nice job of working through some the tangles but my hair was still a mess. I had to go through another cycle of washing and conditioning with my Garnier products. So this possibly might not be the best product for very tangled hair. Also, my scalp itched after washing my hair. I don't think it was caused by the product, but this conditioner did nothing to alleviate the itch.

I love the way the product smells. It leaves your hair with a very subtle, light, clean scent but straight from the bottle or when you're using it in the shower the smell is intoxicating. It reminds me of Tocca perfumes and candles, very light and feminine in a mature kind of way. If Pantene distilled this scent to a perfume I would totally buy it.

Neutrogena Visibly Bright Daily Facial Cleanser
It is so difficult to make me change my skincare routine. My skin is very finicky. It's either in very bad shape, in which case, I don't really feel like it's fair to test out products and expect them to have amazing results...or it is perfect and I don't want to upset the balance.

However, I finally did get around to doing some testing when my skin was smooth and blemish free. I used it after I had removed my makeup so there wasn't anything to break down. I like the consistency. The product is a clear gel which turns white with the addition of water. The fragrance wasn't too heavy and the scent was bright and refreshing. My skin felt a tiny bit smoother after using the product and it may have looked a little bit brighter. I don't think this is one of those products where you're going to see a massive improvement, but if you like the scent and the way it feels, it might be something nice to add to your routine. The good news is it didn't break me out or dry out my skin.

Target Beauty Bag Summer 2012

Happy Birthday to me! I feel like Target knew it was my birthday this week, because my Summer Target Beauty Bag finally came in the mail today. I'm still testing some things from the last beauty bag, but I'm almost ready to review all the items so look forward to that soon. Anyway, like last time I can't comment on how these products work, but I'll show you pictures of everything I got so you can compare it to your Target Beauty Bags whether or not they've arrived yet.

Ah! Look at all those samples! So much better than Birchbox (more on that in an upcoming post).

The bag is different this time. Once again, it's a cute design but this time it's a cloth bag. I don't realy have an opinion on which I prefer but I think the bags are pretty nice quality so I'm happy to keep collecting them to hold my makeup products.

Target Beauty Bag

Hi darlings!

Well, I had a long, horrible day full of coughing and headaches (literally, I had a whole day on and off headache). But I had a lovely surprise waiting for me when I got home...My Target Beauty Bag!
Simple but cute. I associate these kinds of bright stripes with summer and as much as I hate the phrase "on trend" this orange/tangerine/coral is certainly "on trend" for the season.

It just arrived in the mail today. I can't remember when I ordered it, but I got the tip from one of my favorite blogs which you NEED to be following if you're a drugstore makeup girl, Nouveau Cheap. I also got the last bag, which is where I keep all my tubes and pencils (eyeliner, mascara, primer, etc. in my makeup kit) though I wasn't too fond of any of the actual items in the bag last time aside from the face wipes. Well, as this only came in the mail today, I can't really comment on what I think of everything, but maybe you'll enjoy seeing the contents, either to get psyched up for the next beauty bag or to compare to what you got.

I will say that I really like the way the bag was put together this time. Aside from the sample of L'Oreal's Magic Lumi Primer, which I already own and love (though usually I don't use it as a highlighter because it can be a bit too much with my regular foundation. I might start using it more if I stop using foundation so heavily in the summer), the samples all came in their own little containers, sort of like the mini versions of products you can pick up at CVS and other drugstores.

I'm most excited to try the Simple face wipes because they've been advertising Simple products on TV and in magazines and I haven't really heard anything about how the products perform.
This package contains 7 wipes which is a pretty great sample considering the regular sale size is 25 wipes and you don't really need too many of these to figure out if they work. Also, I'm assuming these are wet wipes and not like the Olay ones which you activate with water so I'm happy there aren't too many so they won't dry out before I can finish using them.
Also in the bag are the standard Target coupon book, a Nivea lotion, the sample of L'Oreal's Magic Lumi primer, and a Neutrogena cleanser.
Daily Lotion 1 fluid oz. Definitely could be something worth trying for my dry skin.

My skin is in a really good place right now but I'm willing to give this a try anyway.

I'm pretty loyal to Garnier, but I do have fine, thin hair so if this can actually give my hair some volume, it might convert me. Currently, if I want volume I'll use my Lush Shampoo Bar (review coming soon!)

Did you also get your beauty bags? Were any of your products different? Are you excited to try them out or are you disappointed with the results this time around? I'm much happier with these mini sample sizes than the packets we got last time because I can at least give these to a friend if I decide I don't want to use them.

Update: I'm currently extremely aggravated with the Essie 2012 Wedding collection (review coming soon!) so I think I'm going to cave and get my nails painted a nice neutral color tomorrow so I can concentrate on essay writing and test takiing without staring at the horrible mess of my nails.
