REVIEW of Cult Nails Nakizzle's Shizzle

Hello my loves,

This is a very oddly named polish, isn't it? I picked it up recently when Cult Nails emailed me with a promo code along with back ups of Tempest and Fetish as well as a new polish that I will be reviewing... eventually. Let's not even pretend. You know me by now.

Color: Cult Nails Nakizzle's Shizzle is a bright blue creme polish. I picked this up because it reminded me of swatches I've seen of OPI's What's With the Cattitude which people have been recommending to me ever since it came out and which I've never managed to get a hold of. While I haven't tried WWTC, I think Nakizzle's Shizzle is actually a bit brighter. It's darker than all the blue pastels I own but not as dark as my turquoises and teals. I can do a comparison if you'd like but I don't think I have a dupe for it.
Formula: The formula isn't notably thin or thick to me.
Application: The first coat went on smoothly with no drag. The polish was a little streaky and the results were patchy and not even. The second coat also went on smoothly. This time there was a little drag on the brush. The problem was that third brushstroke. When I went to add it, it became difficult to even out the polish as the polish gets streaky if you apply too much pressure with the pressure. At two coats the polish was still patchy and balding so I added a third. At three coats the polish is more or less opaque with tiny spots of balding from the uneven paint job. It probably wouldn't have been a problem if the first coat had applied more cleanly. The resulting manicure looked fine but not perfect. The polish wasn't applied evenly but because the polish wasn't thick or gloopy it wasn't super apparent.
Wear: I wore this polish for much longer than normal, around 8 or 9 days. When I removed the polish it had dulled a bit but the tip wear was very minimal. I'd say it held up very well.

CONCLUSION: I do love the color of this polish. It's a blue that gets attention and makes you happy without being too bold or an eyesore. It's a cheerful blue that I'm happy to have in my collection and the polish holds up well over a long wear time. But the application really wasn't great. It was manageable but because of the struggle to get a clean application I can't enthusiastically recommend this product. If you're willing to tackle it, I do think the color is beautiful though.

REVIEW of Cult Nails Nail Lacquer in Fetish

Hello lovelies,

Did you have a fun night on Halloween? I stayed in like the boring old lady that I am and put the finishing touches on my Project Runway Threads recap. If you'd like to check it out you can find it on trashtalktv.com. Bear in mind that it's comedy and I'm not nearly as nice and normal as I am on here. I did celebrate Halloween with a special manicure after I removed Zoya Amy. I really don't do black nail polish that often unless it's to go with a nail art look but I could not resist this matte black polish from Cult Nails. All the reviews I read said that it looked like leather and anyone who knows me knows that I can't resist leather.

Color: Fetish is a black matte creme polish. Of course it is. Could it polish named Fetish be anything else? I do think it looks different from other mattes or a black polish with a matte top coat. It doesn't have that dry look to it. I hesitate to call it a rubbery or leather finish because I think it's too thin for that. It's just it's own thing I guess. It's a smooth, slightly soft looking black. If polishes were lipsticks it would be the satin finish in between matte and high gloss.
Formula: The formula is on the thinner side.
Application: The first coat of polish went on as the most gorgeous, shiny inky black and I instantly remembered why I painted my nails black through so much of high school. I do feel like the shape of the brush, which fans out at the bottom like a bell skirt, holds a bit too much polish making it hard to control. The polish isn't so thin that it floods the cuticles but because I can't really control how much polish is on the brush, it's harder to keep it out of my cuticles. It also took a bit of practice to figure out how to apply the polish. Because the formula was a little thin, too much pressure could wipe the polish off the nail instead of applying more. The polish dries to a matte finish fairly quickly. The second coat of polish went on super smoothly as well. By this time I had a better handle of how to control the brush but I still had to do some cleanup. I did add a third coat to my ring finger because the polish was a little patchy (aforementioned pressure wiping the polish off) and to my pointer finger because I took off a bit too much polish cleaning up the cuticle.
Wear: I wore this polish for six days. The second day I had it on I wrapped the tips of my nails again because I was getting tip wear and I was going out to dinner with a friend. Also, a threw on a bunch of layers of L'Oreal 24-carat on my pinky for a flashier look. I continued to get tip wear after that but it wasn't as much as the transition from day one to day two. I think I must have been cooking or something to get tip wear that quickly. After the six days I had tip wear but I could easily re-wrap the tips of my nails and continue wearing this polish. The only other issue is that there are scuff marks on one of my nails and I dented the polish on my right thumbnail.

CONCLUSION: Yeah. I would absolutely recommend this polish. Now I know matte black polishes aren't for everyone but if you're into them, this is definitely a polish you should pick up. The polish goes on smoothly and is opaque in two coats. You might need a bit of practice to keep it out of your cuticles but otherwise, it's fantastic and you get a great effect.

REVIEW of Cult Nails Lacquer in Tempest With SWATCHES

Hello darlings,

I tell you, I've found it! I've finally found my perfect white creme polish! When I placed my order during a recent Cult Nails sale I thought I was crazy to be buying another white nail polish that all the blogs promised would apply beautifully. Been there, done that. Actually, I went a step further and took this on vacation to do a polish change with the most basic of nail kits with me. And I had no problems! Well, that might be a slight exaggeration. Let's get into it.

Color: Cult Nails Tempest is a white creme polish. It's a stark white, the most basic shade you'd want if you were looking for a white for nail art or a white polish to mix with other colors. However, it still retains the creaminess of a creme polish. The best way I can explain it is that it doesn't look like I've painted my nails with white out. It lacks the flatness of just using an acrylic paint. I am in love with it. If you want to try out the mod nail look that was so popular a while ago, this is polish I'd recommend.
Formula: I don't find the consistency noticeably thin or thick. It's probably on the thinner side if I absolutely had to vote one way or the other.
Application: This polish goes on super smoothly. It doesn't apply like any other white or pastel I've tried. It applies like a creme polish with a good formula. There was a little bit of streakiness and unevenness on the second coat but it was very minimal and the third coat fixed things right up. I applied three coats for full opacity. I thought the Seche Vite I applied as a top coat was messing things up a little so I didn't apply top coat to my middle nail. That's why it looks a bit weird in the photos. I don't think this is an issue with Seche Vite or this polish. I just keep getting bottles of Seche Vite that are full of bubbles.
Wear: I applied this polish on August 3rd. By the ninth, I had noticed tip wear. Basically at the edges where I wrapped the tips of my nails, all the polish was gone. Also my nails had grown quite a bit so there was growth at the cuticles. For some reason there were weird slices in two of my nails kind of like if you'd dragged a key or a nail file through the polish. I can't remember what I did to cause the damage. I removed the polish the next night. There was still a little bit of shine but it was considerably duller than when I had originally applied it.

CONCLUSION: I think you know what I'm going to say. These are unbelievable results for a white polish. I absolutely recommend this one and when I run out of it, I'll probably be getting some more backups.
